Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Revoz, a Slovenian car manufacturer based in Novo Mesto and subsidiary of Renault, announced that 450 agency workers will lose their jobs in March 2015. These workers were hired in the beginning of October last year as a consequence of an expansion in production due to the launch of the new Twingo model. Nowever, the demand for the new car in the beginning of 2015 has not met the expectations, so the management decided to stop a night shift and return to a two-shifts production. Consequently, the number of employees will decrease from the existing 2,870 to 2,420.
