Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French logistics services provider Anovo is to close its plant in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). Over the coming weeks the company will apply for a collective redundancy procedure affecting the entire workforce (106 employees). According to the company, the closure is due to the decision of its sole client, the telecommunications company Orange, to concentrate all the operations in Madrid in order to save costs. The trade union CCOO argues that Anovo has been promoting the plant of Madrid over the plant of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat for many years, even if the latter is more productive.
