Description
Major UK oil company, BP has announced plans to cut 300 jobs in the coming months. Around 200 on-shore staff and 100 contractor roles will be lost after a review of the company’s operations in the North Sea. The company’s North Sea operations are headquartered in Aberdeen in Scotland. BP has a current workforce of 3,500 employees in the North Sea with an additional 11,000 working elsewhere across the United Kingdom. While the company has said that it sees a long-term future in the North Sea, challenging operating conditions, including a fall in the world price for oil, has been cited as the main reason for reviewing its operations.
