Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish IT product development and consultation services company Tieto has started employer-employee negotiations concerning 500 positions in Finland. The negotiations have been called as a response to the increased level of digitalization of Tieto’s operations, which has changed the needs of the company’s clients. Tieto is simultaneously negotiating to cut 340 further positions outside of Finland, mainly in Sweden and the Czech Republic.
Tieto employs around 4,000 people in Finland and 14,000 globally.

Updated 2015-03-17: The outcome of the negotiations was a reduction of a total of 435 jobs from Tieto.
