Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The French subsidiary of US Pharmaeutical group Lilly has announced it will cut about 158 jobs. The group explained that due to a "particularly difficult economic and regulatory environment", Lilly France has "to safeguard its competitiveness". Lilly France has presented to its employee representatives a reorganization plan for the pharmaceutical sales unit which will be implemented from September 2015. This project would lead to the cut "of 158 positions, including 143 posts of medical sales representatives (out of a total of 378 positions), 14 regional director positions and 1 network manager".
