Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
International steel contractor Bladt Industries is to cut 160 jobs at its site in Lindø on Fuen. As reported, 60 of the affected workforce are hourly paid while the rest are temporary agency workers. As mentioned, the job reduction measure is due to the lack of orders. Two-thirds of the redundancies will take place on 19 December 2014 and the rest on 9 January 2015. A new order is expected in March 2015 and the unions involved, 3F and Dansk Metal, are in discussions with the management about possible reinstatements. Bladt Industries provide solutions for the wind and renewable energy sector, the oil and gas industry and for infrastructural projects.
