Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
E-cigarette manufacturer Nerudia has announced that it is to create 150 new jobs at its new plant in Speke on Merseyside. The investment of £11 million will result in the largest nicotine manufacturing site in Europe. The site will be fully operational by January 2015. Recruitment has already started for the first 30 positions with recruitment expected to continue for three years to bring the total number of new jobs up to 150. The new site and new jobs reflect the growing popularity of the e-cigarette or vaporiser, the market for the product has grown rapidly since its introduction a decade ago.
