Description
Agilent Technologies, an American-based multi-national technology company, announced on 14 October 2014 its plans to terminate its operations in the area of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), which will lead to 300 job losses within the next twelve months. It is envisaged that up to 100 job losses will take place in Norfolk, UK, and 80 at the company’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, with the rest spread across company locations worldwide. The decision to terminate this area of business operations has been taken as a result of continued shortfalls in growth and profitability since the group entered the NMR business in 2010 following the acquisition of another company. In 2013, Agilent had 20,600 employees and operated in more than 100 countries. The ERM reported on previous internal restructuring cases at Agilent in 2003.
