Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
E-care, a customer care services company, has started a mobility procedure for 489 workers at its Cesano Boscone (Milan) site.
As reported, the mobility procedure results from economic losses due to the decision of its major client Fastweb group not to renew a contract.
Trade unions blame the client company because some activities previously assigned to E-Care have been moved to other call centres in Central Italy, Tunisia and Albania. An eight-hour strike has been called on 21 October 2014.
Lombardy Region is attempting to find an alternative solution to collective dismissals.
