Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 4 November 2014, automotive supplier AB Elektronik is to cut between 300-325 out of 625 positions in Werne. Production shall partly be relocated to Rumania. The first production lines will be relocated in December 2014 and the whole process is set out to be finished by 2017. The programme will cause cost of around €30,5 million.
Management and trade union IG Metall agreed that 300 jobs will be save until the end of 2016. 140 of the job cuts shall be implemented in a socially acceptable manner.
