Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Barcelona-based, software downloading services provider Softonic, announced plans to apply a labour force adjustment that will affect 200 employees (around 50% of its entire workforce). The measure is explained to an unexpected decrease in revenues due to changes in Google’s algorithm that have negatively affected Softoning sells results. The company has not working committee established. Accordingly, it is not clear who will represent the employees in order to negotiate the dismissals and its associated conditions.
