Description

On 25 September 2014, Kaufland announced its plan to outsource the distribution of its corporate newspaper ”Tip”.

As a consequence, 100 fulltime positions at Kaufland will be made redundant. In addition, 55,000 people will no longer be hired for distributing the newspaper. Previously engaged in so called mini jobs, these 55,000 people earned around €17 per week for distributing 200 copies of the newspaper.

In the future, Kaufland will fully outsource the distribution to external service providers; previously about 40% of the distribution was outsourced.

Kaufland is a chain of department stores belonging to German retailing group Schwarz Gruppe. Kaufland employs around 67,000 people in total.
