Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Italian manufacturer of airline seats Aviointeriors is to dismiss 150 workers at its site in Latina. As reported, the job reduction measure is due to liquidity problems linked with the insolvency of a client and a reduction of orders. Dismissals will affect about 150 permanent workers that have been put on a mobility scheme. Furthermore, according to the sources, about 80 fixed term contracts have not been renewed in the latest months. Workers and trade unions declared that there are enough orders to ensure the continuation of production and denounced the company to the Italian Finance Police, stating that wages are not being paid.
