Description
Finnish IT product development and consultation services company Tieto has started employer-employee negotiations in its product development units in Finland. A maximum of 350 jobs will be cut in Finland. Additionally, the company also announced that a maximum of 600 jobs will be cut from its international units in Central Europe and Asia. The cuts are due to the fact that customers have taken back product development to be carried out by own staff. The cuts are to be finalised within the coming six months.
Tieto employs around 4,000 people in Finland and 14,000 people globally.

Update, 14-11-2014:The negotiations were concluded on Friday 14 November 2014. The outcome was a reduction of 300 jobs, 50 less than the initial estimate. The restructuring will primarily affect research and development units in Tampere, Oulu and Espoo.
