Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The retailer group Intermarché, through its subsidiary SVA Jean Rozé is to take over part of the pig slaughterhouses GAD, which was placed in liquidation in September. GAD employs 820 employees at three sites, the slaughterhouse in Josselin (Morbihan) that is to be taken over by SVA Jean Rosé and two smaller units at Lampaul-Guimiliau.
The new owner will keep 507 of the 755 employees of the slaughterhouse. About 229 employees will lose their job. In 2013, GAD has launched a restructuring plan with the closure of its second slaughterhouse at Lampaul-Guimiliau and its sausage factory in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), which resulted to 956 job cuts (see [ERM Factsheet] (https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/75633)).
