Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Domestic airline operator Flybe Finland has begun co-determination talks concerning its entire staff with announced reductions of up to 90 employees. The cuts, which amount to around 13pc of Flybe Finland’s entire staff, are due to a decline in passenger numbers because of the recession and increased competition from other airlines. It is still unknown what kind of positions the cuts will affect and which routes will be affected.
Flybe Finland currently employs 700 people. Flybe Finland is part of Flybe Nordic which is owned by Finnair and Flybe.
Updated, 10-10-2014: Flybe announced that 90 jobs are to be cut. Of these, 31 are pilots, 35 cabin crew, 20 clerical employees, and 4 maintenance personnel.
