Description
TV channel TF1 has announced plans to cut up to 148 jobs. As reported, the job reduction measure is linked with the decision of the French media regulator Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) to reject the request of TF1 to switch its pay TV channel LCI to free-to-air. As a result, a restructuring plan was announced envisaging 81 job cuts at the main channel TF1, 9 at its digital subsidiary and 58 at LCI.
According to the sources, in the end of September a social plan was negotiated with the unions envisaging a voluntary redundancy plan and internal transfers but it was rejected by the employees.
The group TF1 employs about 3,770 people in France. About 100 jobs were lost in 2013.
Updated, 24-10-2014: TF1 puts onhold its restructuring plan for LCI, ahead of a decision by the Council of State regarding whether or not the channel can be broadcasted on free to air DTT.
