Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The public hospital in Brest has announced a restructuring plan to cut 183 positions in order to eliminate a deficit of € 8, 7 million. Management highlighted the need to modernise the hospital. Unions organised a strike (11, 5pc of employees have participated) to denounce job cuts. The job reduction measure will take place by means of natural attrition and retirements (300 departures are scheduled in the next two years, so that 117 will not be replaced).
