Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The warehousing and storage company, Dispeo (a logistics subsidiary of the 3SI Group) has announced its plan to recruit about 400 employees (order pickers, packers and managers) over the next two to three years. This expansion is a result of a new five-year partnership between Dispeo and Showroomprive.com, an online clothing retail company. Previously working exclusively for 3SI, Dispeo will now process up to 10 million more parcels by 2015. Dispeo needs to expand in order to process the new orders, especially as it aims to expand further and achieve half of its sales outside the 3SI group in the next two to three years. Currently there are approximately 1000 employees at Dispeo and it reached a turnover of 54 million euros in 2014.
