Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
South Korean conglomerate Doosan Infracore announced plans to close its production site in Frameries; 313 jobs are at risk. The plant manufactures excavators for European markets.
As reported, the site is loss-making in recent years due to high production costs and the management plans to cease operations and move its production activities to South Korea, retaining only its sales and commercial activities. The trade unions expressed their dismay at the plans. A timeframe for the restructuring has not been announced yet.
