Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Danish Broadcasting Corporation, DR, announced 4 September 2014 that between 170 and 200 employees will be made redundant due to new saving plans. The cost savings are due to a new media agreement passed in the Parliament. DR will save DKK 161 million at a yearly basis for the next four years. Part of the plan is to close down a very popular orchestra, the DR Entertainment Orchestra that has existed for 75 years. DR has not informed about the foreseen end date of the restructuring, but only commented that it will take place "in the near future".
The management of DR has declared that they are open for discussions with the employee representatives with the aim to mitigate the effects of the restructuring.
