Description
Gunstones bakery in Dronfield is reported to be facing over 400 redundancies. The bakery near Sheffield, which has been owned by the 2 Sisters Food Group since April 2011, has confirmed that an existing contract to supply sandwiches will come to an end within the next six months.
The company currently employs around 1,200 people at the site. Consultation with employee representatives is understood to have started. A spokesperson for the Bakers Food & Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) said that it was expected that 120 redundancies would happen by the end of August 2014 with a further 300 by January 2015.
