Description
Societatea Naţională de Inchideri Mine Valea Jiului (SNIMVJ), the main hard coal-mining company, is to dismiss 256 employees, starting Sept 1st 2014. Beginning from August 1st, the employees will receive a 20 working days legal notice, and from September 1st they will exit the system. Some of the listed employees meet the retirement criteria, while the others will receive severance payments starting September 15th. A total of 79 miners come from Petrila mine, 95 from Paroşeni mine and 75 from Uricani exploitation. Seven of the workers are part of the technical apparatus of SNIMVJ.
SNIMVJ, a Romanian state owned company, is implementing a programme of closing unprofitable coal mines by 2018.
