Description
Fischer Brot, manufacturer of bread and pastries for wholesale and retail, is to shed up to 100 jobs at its production site in Linz by the end of 2015.
Reasons for this step are changes in the industry, as consumers demand fresh bread all day. Instead of buying the final product, big food retailers are increasingly baking semi-finished bread and pastries in special backing-boxes in each store. The company’s main customer, the discount supermarket Hofer, is planning to equip the majority of its stores with these boxes by the end of 2015.
A social plan for the affected employees has been negotiated with the local workers council.
