Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 30 July 2014, KME Germany announced to cut 140 jobs in Osnabrück. Currently, the company employs 2,100 people. The job reduction is part of a restructuring program started in 2012. Trade union IG Metall criticised the plans and fears the company tries to avoid paying agreed wages.
KME Germany is a copper producer who belongs to Italian KM Europe Metal which employs around 6,800 people in total.
