Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Utility company, British Gas has announced the creation of 300 new jobs. The new jobs will be ‘frontline’ customer service roles and will be located across eight of British Gas contact centres across the United Kingdom. The highest number of new jobs will be established in the contact centre located in Cardiff in Wales, where 90 new customer service workers will be employed.
Additional new jobs will be created in contact centres located Scotland, where 90 new jobs will be shared between sites in Edinburgh and Uddington. The remainder of this tranche of new jobs will be based in the five English regional cities of Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Stockport and Oldbury.
