Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Car manufacturer Vauxhall has announced that it is to create a total of 550 new jobs across two of its UK sites. 250 new jobs will be based at its Luton site and 300 jobs will be at the site at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. A spokesperson for the company described the news as the "first significant hire programme for a decade".
The Ellesmere port site will manufacture the Astra car, and the Luton site will produce the newly launched Vivaro van.
This announcement will be especially welcome for the Luton base, which had previously shed jobs in early 2013. The expansion plan will take place from the start of 2015.
