Description
German producer of frozen fish Pickenpack announced plans to cut 170 jobs at its headquarters in Lüneburg. According to the company, the job reduction is due to constant losses of the company. Currently, around 500 people work in Lüneburg. There are two more sites, one in Riepe (Germany) and another one in France. The company’s management is to negotiate with the works council to work out a social plan and set up a transfer agency.
Pickenpack employs 850 people in total and is the market leader for frozen fish in Germany. The company currently suffers from the highly competitive market and a decline of demand for its products.
