The introduction of a new vehicle model, the Land Rover Discovery Sport, will lead to the creation of 250 new jobs at Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood plant in Merseyside, near Liverpool. With the creation of the new jobs, the staffing level at the Halewood plant will expand to 4,750. The new jobs will enable running of three shifts, operating twenty four hours a day.
Significant investment in the local region has been made by the company to support the production of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport. This includes £200 million to support production of the new model and almost £500 million in the site during the past four years. The same site in Halewood also became home to Jaguar Land Rover's top selling model in 2011.
