Expansion of the three business areas of HSBC will see the creation of a combined total of 205 jobs. The newly created jobs are all based in Scotland. First, an expansion of HSBC's security services businesses will create 100 new project staff. These new positions will be based in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Secondly, 85 new permanent and fixed-term jobs will be created in HSBC's Hamilton contact centre. Thirdly, an additional 20 new jobs will be created across Scotland in the bank's Corporate Banking department, including the creation of a new private banking team that will be located in Aberdeen.
This expansion of HSBC in Scotland follows earlier expansion, including an increased footprint in corporate and commercial banking teams which has seen a substantial increase in the number of specialist jobs in commercial and international banking over the past three years.
