Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Outsourcing specialist, SouthWestern, has announced that it will create 260 jobs in Little Island in Cork over the next two years. According to the sources, 100 jobs will be filled immediately, while 160 extra jobs are to be filled over the next two years. The sources report that the jobs will be in sales, administration, account management and multilingual personnel roles. SouthWestern specialises in providing services such as health claims administration, debt collection and help desk services for public and private sector clients.
The company already employs 500 people at its base in Clonakilty, and it has operations in London and Lodz as well. The source notes that with the creation of these 260 new positions, the company will eventually employ some 1,100 people across all of its operations.
