Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
DeLonghi Romania, a branch of the Italian appliances manufacturer, will create 250 jobs at its plant in Jucu by the end of 2014. According to the source, the company has begun the recruitment of 80 workers for its recently extended production line. The source reports that the workers will be paid the minimum wage in Romania, currently RON 600 per month.
DeLonghi has been operating in Romania since 2012, and at present the plant employs 400 workers. This jobs announcement is linked to a €30 million investment in their manufacturing plant in Juncu.
