Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Healthcare organisation, Savant, has announced that it will cut 250 jobs in the first quarter of 2015. The company currently employs a total of 1,950 staff and redundancies will be made in the areas of household care, day care support services, welfare services and counselling services. According to the source, negotiations with trade unions have already begun.
The source reports that the redundancies are a result of government plans to decentralise a major part of the healthcare sector, while also cutting costs. The new healthcare structure is due to be implemented in local municipalities from 1 January 2015. According to the source, many healthcare organisations expect to receive substantially less money and have announced major restructuring measures.
