Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Scandinavian airline SAS has announced that it will cut 300 jobs, primarily in Solna in Sweden. According to the sources, SAS is jointly owned by the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish governments.
The sources report that the job reductions will be in the areas of support, commercial and administrative functions, as well as management. According to the sources, SAS has experienced a decline in profits and a decrease in turnover in 2013 compared to 2012. SAS is introducing a savings package in order to increase profits. At this stage, it is not known which sites and departments will be affected by the job reductions.
The ERM has reported on previous restructuring events at SAS in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2010and 2012.
