Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
E.C. Dahls brewery is closing two thirds of its production in Trondheim, dismissing 120 employees.
Production will close by 1 September 2015, and employees have now received redundancy notice. Only 15 employees will be left at the brewery to continue its beer production, along with about 90 employees in sales and distribution. Soda production is being moved to the brewery at Gjelleråsen in Oslo, which is owned by the same company.
Carlsberg is investing 110 million NOK through Ringes, to convert the old brewery into a 'beer center' including a microbrewery, a pub, a restaurant, a visitors center and conference facilities. This will secure the jobs of the remaining employees at the site, according to the company.
