Lancashire-based healthcare provider Abacus Care has closed leading to the loss of all 152 jobs. According to the sources, Abacus Care Home Care and Nursing Services (ACHCNS) based in Ormskirk and its sister company Abacus Care supplied nurses and healthcare assistants to various healthcare providers as well as to individuals in their own homes and had operated for over 20 years. The sources report that the company said increasing regulation of the sector as well as competition in the market led to its closure. Administrators had been called in on 24th April 2014 with the decision to close coming shortly afterwards.
