Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Global gas measurement and handling equipment manufacturer Elster Instromet group is to cut 130 jobs in Essen. As announced the group plans to restructure its site in Essen due to high operating costs and transfer its activities to other group establishments in the Netherlands, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. As reported, the trade unions reacted strongly to the plan. Elster Instromet group is part of the Elster group and operates globally in more than 40 countries. The timeline for the restructuring plans is not yet available.
