Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US-based pharmaceutical company MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme) is to open a global IT centre in Prague and to create 100 new jobs in 2014. As reported, with investments exceeding CZK 1 billion during the first three years of the operation, the company plans to create in total 200 new jobs by the end of 2015.
MSD has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1992. The company focuses on biological therapy, vaccines, treatment of diabetes and other diseases.
In October 2013, the pharmaceutical group Merck announced a global job reduction restructuring plan.
