Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Linoleum manufacturer Armstrong DLW is to cut 58 out of 430 jobs at its production site in Delmenhorst. According to the sources the restructuring is due to overcapacity. Works’ council and management have reached an agreement that the job reduction measures will be carried out via voluntary redundancies with the support of a transfer agency to help affected employees in their job search. Additionally, the agreement envisages that no job cuts will be made until September 2015 for the remaining staff. The timeframe for the restructuring is not yet available.
