Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Costa Crociere, a cruise liner company based in Italy, has announced it will employ 1,200 people in 2014.
Most of the jobs will be on board the Costa Diadema ship, which is currently under construction and due to be operational by October 2014. Jobs will also be available in Costa’s administrative offices and on other cruise ships in their fleet.
According to the source, the positions will be mainly for entertainment staff, receptionists, waiters, deck officers and engine officers. Staff in Italy will work in a number of departments, including sales and marketing, human resources and in the customer service centre.
The source reports that Costa Crociere intends to offer training courses to support its recruitment process.
