Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Divesa, a company specialised in selling and repairing Mercedes cars, has announced that it will close with the loss of 109 jobs. The company is closing due to declining profits. The jobs will be cut through a collective dismissal plan (ERE) and employees can consult the details of the plan until 10 May 2014.
The company intends to retain 24 employees in order to carry out the final orders. According to the source, it is possible that the production unit could be bought by other company. In that case, 15 jobs would be saved.
