Description
Swedish TV channel TV4 is planning to close all local news desks by the end of summer 2014, affecting 140 jobs.
TV4 is planning to cut costs and therefore close all local news desks in order to replace them with 25 local news reporters at nine locations for national news. TV4 has got 165 employees at local news desks in Sweden, making up half of the total costs for news reporting.
There will be negotiations on the terms of the restructuring with trade unions.
The ERM has reported on previous restructuring events at TV4 in 2005 and 2011.
