Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The second largest university in Denmark, Aarhus University, plans to cut its staff by 358 employees.
According to the shop stewards at Aarhus University, the redundancies will affect 138 technical administrative staff and 58 scientific employees. Furthermore, 162 employees will be offered voluntary retirement.
Another 42 will continue to work according to a scheme for senior employees with less working hours. Thus, a total of around 400 employees will be affected by the university's restructuring in 2014.
