Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Telecom installation company Relacom is reducing its Norwegian staff by 350 employees. Units in the eastern and central parts of the country will be most affected. Both administrative personnel and telecom installers will be affected.
The stated goal of the restructuring is to increase competitiveness.
A majority of the job cuts will be implemented through voluntary retirements, but a significant number of staff will be dismissed. The exact number of direct dismissals is not yet clear. The company is aiming at finishing the restructuring before October 1st this year.
The ERM already reported on announced job reductions at Relacom in 2010.
