Description
Retail chain Auchan has announced a restructuring plan, resulting in the loss of 800 positions and the creation of another 500 by 2017.
The plan aims at reducing positions in high and middle management and to increase the number of staff at different sites in the country. According to the management, the number of 800 job cuts is in the range of the annual number of departures at the company.
Unions denounced the net job cuts as the group will receive financial support from the state amounting to about EUR 120 million (due to the new tax reduction scheme "Crédit d'impôt compétitivité emploi").
In 2012, the ERM reported on the company’s plan to implement large job cuts and creations.
