Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Prima Group, a producer and retailer of furniture based in Bjelovar, intends to recruit around 100 new workers, mainly in manufacturing. At a time when in Croatia industrial production and exports are in steady decline, Prima Group has managed to secure export markets in the EU.
Prima Group was established in 1995 as a privately held company and is Croatia's largest supplier and manufacturer of household commercial and solid wood furniture. Prima Group bases its production in eight factories (3 case goods factories, 2 factories producing upholstered furniture and chairs, 1 solid wood furniture factory, 1 factory specialised in high-gloss elements and 1 mattress factory). Continuous investments in up-to-date technology, combined with a wide range of colours, textures and designs, resulted in the development of a retail network which now includes 47 furniture centres in Croatia and 4 in Macedonia. They export furniture to Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Bulgaria.
Next to existing sales through large retail chains, their intention is to increase in internet sales.
