Description
Manufacturer of motor vehicle components Johnson Controls is to cut 65 jobs at its production site in Mandling, Styria. This amounts to about 25pc of the 270 workers at the site. The move was made only some months after the company had announced 130 dismissals at Mandling (see factsheet).
The measure is due to the offshoring of the company’s cold foam production to Eastern Europe. According to the management, this is necessary in light of increased price pressure by automobile manufacturers.
The social plan which had been negotiated for the employees made redundant in the previous restructuring in 2013 is valid until September 2014 and is thus available to the newly dismissed 65 workers. A reemployment scheme has also been initiated.
The production of hot foam is not concerned by the offshoring.
