Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish-Swedish pulp and paper manufacturer Stora Enso announced plans to close its plant in Corbehem by June 2014. 350 jobs will be lost. As reported, the group failed to find a buyer for its site and the management will start to negotiate a social plan from 21 January 2014.
According to the sources the job reduction measure is part of a large global restructuring plan. As announced, the closure will also indirectly affect 170 jobs in the area.
Updated, 22/05/2014: As reporetd, the majority of elmployees have voted in favour of the job saving plan. The plant will close in June.
