Description
Healthcare group Careyn is to cut 650 FTE jobs and close 8 of the 28 eldercare services centres. As reported, following an announcement of goverment budget cuts, the cost saving plan envisages that around 1,000 people will lose their jobs.
According to the sources, the central works council has agreed to the restructuring plan but there is no agreement with the unions that had asked for a job guarantee as part of the social plan. Careyn did not rule out forced dismissals, but promised that it will pay a supplement to the unemloyment benefit for a minimum period of one year. Furthermore, Careyn will provide support in finding a new job to the affected employees.
