Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Renfe, the public company specialised in passenger and freight transport by railways, is to make 350 workers redundant.
Negotiations with worker representatives have not yet started.
Renfe will be divided in four companies on the 1st of January of 2014: Renfe travellers (8,900 employees), Renfe freight (1,700 employees), Renfe manufacture and maintenance (3,350 employees) and a new company specialized in renting railway material. On the other hand, 662 employees will remain in the current company.
At the same time, the railway company Adif also announced dismissals in Spain.
